The bungy legend was born after AJ saw a video of bungy jumps performed by the Oxford University Dangerous Sports Club, based on a harvest ritual in the Vanuatu Island Group where young men climbed to the top of towers, tied vines to their feet and flung themselves earthwards.

Realising that others would love to experience that adrenaline rush, AJ and business partner Henry van Asch, whom he met skiing in Wanaka, New Zealand, set about developing and testing bungy cords with the help of Auckland University scientists.

In June 1987, AJ’s jump from the Eiffel Tower in Paris was a very public confirmation of complete faith in the bungy product — and a PR coup. Despite the skeptics who thought it was a tourism operation that would never ‘catch on’, the company opened for business at the Kawarau Bridge, Queens town, New Zealand, with just a 30-day operating license from the Department of Conservation.

AJ Hackett and Henry van Asch knew they had a safe product but in order to convince the tourism industry and the public, they needed an independent method of safety assurance. AJ and Henry developed a Bungy Code of Practice, which provided the framework for the New Zealand / Australian Bungy Jump Standard — the company was the first in the world to be awarded the ‘S’ Mark for bungy jumping. Every six months the Standards Association of New Zealand completes an independent audit of the jump sites.

This retreat comes complete with a traditional hand built wooden 25m / 65ft boat called “Princess Margaux” which can carry up to 30 people, has a built in sound system, toilet, king size bed and importantly an over sized built in champagne & beer chilly bin (or esky for you Aussies!).

Bungy Jumping

No Bali experience is complete without a Bungy Jump from our magnificent tower. Hands down this jump spot is the most dramatic in the world. Situated inside the grounds of the famous Double Six Night Club. The 45m / 150ft tower was purpose built and includes an elevator to get to the top (so you can’t use the stairs as an excuse not to jump or check out the view!).

There are three options to jump, during the afternoon for amazing views out over the beaches and surf. Or sunset for the most picture perfect bungy photo you will ever get, or in the dark as you party away around the tower!

We offer a range of different jump styles including riding off the roof on a BMX push bike, jumping on firs (you have a firs suit!) or even a real motorcycle it’s our little tribute to the master “Evil Knievel”!
